Buy Local! Buy Fresh! ThompsonNew! 2016 Buy Local! Buy Fresh! Thompson Shuswap online farm listings.

The Buy Local! Buy Fresh! map is a direct marketing tool for farms and local producers. It links consumers with local food by making food producers more visible in the region, and then supports their growth in the market. The map showcases our region's abundance of local farms, food producers, and promotes local food businesses and farm events. As the demand for local food increases, listing on the map is a cost effective way to reach this growing market.

Registration for our first ever 2016 Buy Local! Buy Fresh! Thompson map has now closed and the map has gone to print. To receive information about this new map, please feel welcome to contact us. Let us know your ideas for developing this project successfully!

2015 Buy Local! Buy Fresh! Okanagan MapThe 2016 Buy Local! Buy Fresh! Thompson map will be a full colour fold-out print map that folds to a brochure rack size. A sample of the current cover from our Okanagan Valley map is shown to the right, though the new Thompson edition will include updated photography. A complementary website listing is included with the 2016 print edition. The new map will cover the Thompson Valley from Kamloops to Salmon Arm, the North Thompson, and the Nicola Valley.

The map shows farms and advertisers linked to sponsor ads around the frame and to full farm listings on reverse. Farm listings are organized by both location and by main product category. 5,000 copies or more of the 2016 map will be distributed free of charge throughout the Thompson Valley at Visitor's Centres, at participating farms and sponsors, and at hotels and other locations convenient to both tourists and residents.

The online farm listings here on buylocalbc.org include detailed versions of the listings from the printed map, searchable by product and location. An online listing is included in the registration fee for the printed map.

Testimonials from our Okanagan participants:

"We're starting to build new customers and we really did notice this year that the Buy Local! Buy Fresh! pamphlet was helpful to draw some new customers to the farm. I think that was a real positive and we'll look forward to participating in future years. It was nice to see new people and especially more tourists stopping by the farm as they drive through the Okanagan, and so that's been a good thing for us - we're always looking to expand our clientele. We're fairly new in the  business still--this is the third year of us owning the orchard--so it's good to see new people coming out, and I'm excited by the upsurge of people that are interested in local again. There have been alot of local families that are stopping in to the farm looking for fruit for their kids for school lunches, and that's a good thing!"
