The Buy Local! Buy Fresh! map is a direct marketing tool for farms and local producers. It links consumers with local food by making food producers more visible in the region, and then supports their growth in the market. The map showcases our region's abundance of local farms, food producers, and promotes local food businesses and farm events. As the demand for local food increases, listing on the map is a cost effective way to reach this growing market. We currently publish two annual editions of the map for the BC Southern Interior, one for the Okanagan Similkameen region and another for the Thompson Shuswap region.

The decision was made in June to move the 2020 campaign entirely online and continue publishing the farm listings here on buylocalbc.org as usual.
Rates for all farm listings were dropped to just $45. Registration for the 2020/21 Buy Local! Buy Fresh! maps is ongoing. To receive information about new maps, updating your current listing, changes to this year's campaign, or how to join, please feel welcome to contact us.

Map Details:

The Annual Buy Local! Buy Fresh! Okanagan map and Buy Local! Buy Fresh! Thompson Shuswap map are full colour fold-out print maps that fold to a brochure rack size. A complementary website listing is included with the print editions. The Okanagan and Similkameen map covers all of the region from Armstrong in the north to Osoyoos and the Similkameen in the South. The Thompson Shuswap map covers the Thompson Valleys, Nicola, and Shuswap, from Kamloops to Salmon Arm, east to Sicamous, west to Ashcroft, and north to Clearwater.

The maps show farms and advertisers linked to sponsor ads around the frame and to full farm listings on reverse. Farm listings are organized by both location and by main product category. The maps are distributed free of charge each year throughout the regions covered at Visitor Centres, at participating farms and sponsors, and at hotels and other locations convenient to both tourists and residents.

The online farm listings here on buylocalbc.org include detailed versions of the listings from the printed map, searchable by product and location. An online listing is included in the registration fee for the printed map.

Testimonials from our participants:: "We're starting to build new customers and we really did notice this year that the Buy Local! Buy Fresh! pamphlet was helpful to draw some new customers to the farm. I think that was a real positive and we'll look forward to participating in future years. It was nice to see new people and especially more tourists stopping by the farm as they drive through the Okanagan, and so that's been a good thing for us - we're always looking to expand our clientele. We're fairly new in the  business still--this is the third year of us owning the orchard--so it's good to see new people coming out, and I'm excited by the upsurge of people that are interested in local again. There have been alot of local families that are stopping in to the farm looking for fruit for their kids for school lunches, and that's a good thing!"
